I know Windows 7 is out and is garnering positive feedback from majority of users. Unlike its Vista cousin, Windows 7 is faster, more responsive and takes up less system resources. Still, there are users who would just like to stick to the good old Windows xp. I am also running windows xp service pack 3 and its’ never given any headache since sp3 was installed. While my windows xp runs excellently, there are users who are not happy with the sluggish performance of their computers. In most of the cases, malware is the primary reason for slow running pc. I’ll get back to the malware thing some other day, for now, let’s get windows xp running faster by tweaking few settings. There is an ebook I came across on PC security forum, that lets you speed up windows xp to the level that you can run it comfortably with a 256mb memory, although having more memory is recommended.

Per PC Security forum:-

This pdf report lists few great tips to speed up your Windows XP machine in a great manner. Your system will perform like it’s never before. You will be more efficient than ever. Forget the days of sluggishly running Windows XP!

I have gone through the ebook and must say the tips and tricks are well written and easy to implement. So, if you have a barebones windows xp based computer running slowly, making you less efficient, you now know what to do.

Scan your system for viruses and spyware

Download speeding up windows xp like never before ebook and speed up xp

I know many of you are looking to make your windows 7 faster, well that follows soon.

The wait for much awaited windows 7 is over now. Microsoft releases Windows 7 today. The interest for the new OS from Microsoft has been huge, making Windows 7 the biggest pre-order item in the history of Amazon UK and a perpetual trending topic on Twitter. If you are struggling with Windows Vista, or just looking for an excuse to buy a new machine or upgrade on hardware, you have the excuse now, Windows 7 is here! Head on to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/ the official page of Windows 7 to see the enticing new features or what you might be missing by sticking to Windows xp. The vista annoyances & sluggishness have been fixed to some good extent and the users find their systems more responsive and a bit speedier overall. If you’re interested in making the switch, the price is $319 for Windows 7 Ultimate, and $299 for the Professional version ($219 and $199 for the upgrade, respectively). Windows 7 Home Premium will set you back $199, and an upgrade from either Vista or XP will cost you $119. For me, I’ll stick to my good old Windows XP for quite some time before purchasing the upgrade. If you guys have made a switch or considering it, do let us know here in comments, how the experience have been.
