The Road not Taken

It’s Robert Frost again! This time the poem The Road not Taken which is basically about the decisions we take, the choices we make and their impact on our lives. And, no matter how hard you try to escape, you always have to make a choice!

two roads two choices The Road not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Jinhe Naaz hai Hind par voh kahan hain

I couldn’t have come up with a better post on the eve of India’s independence day. Jinhe naaz hai hind par voh kahan hai by Rabbi Shergill. The song is very touching and tells the story of 4 unsung heroes of India in a remarkable manner.

The best part is the strumming of the National Anthem tune between the verses, which serves as the perfect melody between the thought provoking verses.

Lyrics of Bilqis Jinhe naaz hai hind par

Mera naam Bilqis Yakub Rasool
Mujhse hui bas ek hi bhool
Ki jab dhundte thhe vo Ram ko
To main khadi thhi, rah mein

Ve gall sun chhallia

Rabbi is one of my favorite singers and composers. The kind of magic (music) he creates is just wonderful. Listen to Challa by Rabbi this time. Its’ very very soothing and has wonderful lyrics….a friend helped me to properly put these down….so now Gall sunn chhalia!

Lyrics of Chhalla Vas nai oo mere

Chhalla vas nahi oo mere – 4
Chhalla vas meri maa de
Ghallegi tan jange
Ve gall sun chhallia
Khaure keeta kis is ‘te toona

Ve Chhalla bambi da paani
Chhalla bambi da paani – 2
Kithhey veh gaye ne jaani
Asan khabar ko na jaani
Ve gall sun chhallia -2
Teri beri ik uggia ey kanda

Miles to Go before I sleep

There is a beautiful poem by Robert Frost which I read at some time in my childhood years. I have always remembered the beautiful lines – The woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep and miles to go before I sleep. The never stopping, never retreating, just the will, persistence and courage to go on and on. Now, I guess that explains why I sleep late at night, doesn’t it? lol

night warrior woods Miles to Go before I sleep

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

Mujhse Naraz ho toh ho Jao

A very beautiful and emotionally touching song this time. Mujhse naraz ho toh ho jao from the movie Papa Kehte hain sung by Sonu Nigam. Over the years, I had almost forgotten this song and when I recalled, the first thing I did was what you’re reading right now. This may just be called one of the best of Sonu Nigam’s songs.

Lyrics of Mujhse naraz ho toh ho jao
Mujhse naraz ho toh ho jao – 2
khud se lekin khafa khafa na raho
mujhse tum durr jao toh jao
aap apne se tum juda na raho
Mujhse naraaz ho toh ho jao
khud se lekin khafa khafa na raho
Mujhse naaraz ho toh ho jao
