The Great Egotistic WordPress Theme searching

Blogging with a default wordpress theme is boring! I mean everytime I thought of blogging, I saw the picture of the native wordpress two column page template with a big header on the top, content on the left and navigation on the right. The default wordpress theme was no doubt making me feel sleepy.

It was time to do the cosmetics.

I had to change the theme to something nicer. Not saying that the default theme is bad, it is perfect for newbies, it however just didn’t suit my tastes (besides making me feel lazy about blogging). I already had drawn a picture of this blog’s overall look and feel way before I even started on it. Of late, I have grown a liking for Twitter and twitter style pages. Twitter is a nice concept and I love microblogging (who has time these days anyway!).

Looked for narrow two column twitter style layouts. I was sick of those full width three column layout that occupy all the screen space and distract users with so many things on the page. A narrow two column fixed width layout would give my blog posts just about adequate focus & attention by eliminating distractions. Also, short blog posts will fill up the space well.

So, after going through atleast 30 two column and 5 single column themes in the last 3 days, I finally settled for Fresh Compact theme. Think its’ decent, isn’t it?
