Bharti Airtel partners with Twitter

Good news for all the twitter junkies out there in india. Airtel, which is one of india’s largest telecom services provider with a claimed user base of 110 million subscribers, has entered into a partnership with Twitter.

Here’s what Twitter blog says about it:-

Our partnership with Bharti Airtel, the largest mobile operator in India, means a huge population of people can now send tweets at standard rates and receive tweets for free. Bharti Airtel is offering people in every city, every village, every remote taluk and even the smallest panchayat the opportunity to connect to Twitter and enjoy the open exchange of information with no added fees. We are proud to have Bharti Airtel as our partner. Give Twitter a try with your Airtel phone by sending START to 53000. And spread the word!”

If you are currently an airtel subscriber and hold a twitter account, you can just signup for the service via SMS by sending START to 53000. Charges @ Re 1 per SMS. Follow the instructions to complete the registration. You can link your phone number with your twitter account in the same way.

If you are an airtel customer and new to twitter, SMS SIGNUP to 53000.
